The Disney Skyliner Refurbishment That Has Us Worried

Refurbishment is often a dreaded word for many Disney guests, but it is best to be prepared. However, this Disney Skyliner refurbishment schedule has us all a bit worried.

Best Disney Transportation

There are many differing opinions on transportation options, largely depending upon which Disney Resort you are staying at and also which Park you will be visiting. The Walt Disney World Resort is HUGE, and many questions revolve around what is the quickest mode of transportation to arrive at each Park. 

Some guests choose their Disney resort based upon transportation options, particularly with resorts along the monorail loop and the Disney Skyliner.

My (Donna) family absolutely loves the Skyliner. They love it so much that they act as though it is a Park attraction and prefer to stay at Pop Century or Art of Animation to enjoy this transportation perk.

Skyliner Closure

Since the Disney Skyliner opened in September 2019, it has closed every January for a brief refurbishment. During this time, the Disney Skyliner remains fully closed.  Additional buses will be available at the Skyliner Resorts to allow Guests transportation to both Hollywood Studios and EPCOT.

Although there are no slow times at Walt Disney World anymore, it appears that January and February are a bit slower. These are the months that a bulk of refurbishments are planned for.

We fully expected for Disney to announce a refurbishment to take place in January 2025 for the Disney Skyliner. Now we are halfway through February, and still, no refurbishment news has been announced for the Disney Skyliner.

Why this has us worried

The Disney Skyliner is a great transportation option, but it is not the most reliable, which concerns many with a fear of heights. Things need regular maintenance, and the Disney Skyliner is no exception.

The Disney Skyliner has closed for refurbishment every January except in 2025.

Our concern is that a refurbishment may be needed when higher crowds arrive at Walt Disney World or that technical difficulties may affect guests’ travel plans aboard the Disney Skyliner.
