Disney’s Newest Resort Perk Has An Unexpected Change

Disney World has changed many exclusive perks for Disney Resort guests over the years. Many guests are confused by an unexpected change for this resort perk that goes against the operating trends of recent years. Find out how this change may affect your next Disney Resort stay.

Why stay at a Disney Resort

Staying at one of the Walt Disney World Resorts offers a few perks. One of the best perks of staying at a Walt Disney World Resort is Early Theme Park Hours.  All guests utilizing this benefit can take advantage of entering the parks 30 minutes before the parks officially open.

Guests staying at select resorts can enjoy Extended Evening Hours on select nights. Of course, many enjoy using the various modes of free Disney transportation throughout Walt Disney World. 

New for 2025 packages, Guests staying at a Disney Resort hotel can enjoy admission to one of the water parks on check-in day! This is included with your stay.

Unexpected Change

Many things remain different at Walt Disney World after the parks reopened in 2020. One difference is at the Disney Water Parks, Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach.

Previously, both water parks were open simultaneously, but since 2020, there has been no overlap in having both water parks open to guests. Typically, Typhoon Lagoon closes mid-November while Blizzard Beach reopens.

Blizzard Beach typically operates from mid-November through mid-March. Then, as you guessed, Typhoon Lagoon reopens. The current operational calendar for Blizzard Beach offers hours through April 5th. This is notably a longer operational calendar than in years past.

Will both Disney water parks be open?

It is unclear if Disney’s Blizzard Beach may remain open even longer than April 5th. The operating hours may be added one week at a time as we head into the April park hour updates. Currently, Typhoon Lagoon has not announced a reopening date.

Blizzard Beach will remain open until at least April 5, 2025.

Many have wondered if both water parks may open simultaneously in 2025 because of the newest resort perk for free water park admission. Thus far, in 2025, it is difficult to determine how many resort guests are using this new free perk. With Blizzard Beach closed for multiple days in 2025 due to cold weather, it may be until March or April that we see how busy the water parks are with this free resort perk.
