Villains Land will be epic at the Magic Kingdom. At times, it seems Disney announces big projects, and they lie dormant for a while. Thankfully, this big step means Villains Land is happening. Check out the latest news.

Our once-perfect Walt Disney World is about to get a villainous makeover. Over at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, get ready for Sunset Boulevard to be transformed for a new villains’ show in the summer of 2025.

During the big D23 fan event last September, Disney officially announced plans for Villains LandVillains Land will be located at Disney’s Magic Kingdom as part of the “Beyond Big Thunder” expansion.

Josh D’Amaro announced that there will be 2 attractions, dining, shopping, and more. Work will begin in 2025 for this new expansion. Be sure to check out the full villainous lineup HERE.

Josh D’amaro, Chairman of Disney Experiences, shares, “The addition will be on ‘an incredibly twisted grand scale’ unlike anything that Disney has done in the past at its parks.” The best part is that work can now begin soon.

As with any project, permits must be filed, and today, the permit for 407 Basin Stormwater Modifications is approved. This is for the changes to be made at Frontierland and the Villains Land expansion.

This is actually great timing for work to begin on the new Villains Land. Currently, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is closed until 2026 for a big refurbishment. While this area of Frontiereland is closed for guests, this would be a great time to begin work on this new land.

Disney also announced plans to remove Tom Sawyer Island from the Magic Kingdom and bring in a new Cars-themed land. Permits have been filed for this expansion, and Cars Land as also been approved!

A closing date for Tom Sawyer Island or the Liberty Square Riverboat has not been set. I (Donna) am personally glad to have these attractions around for a bit longer.
