Magic Kingdom Attraction Reopens After a Two Month Delay

Magic Kingdom Attraction Reopens After a Two Month Delay

There is never a good time for an attraction to close for a refurbishment, particularly when this refurbishment is delayed by two months. Find out what work was completed for this lengthy refurbishment.

In previous years, Disney plans much refurbishment during the slower months of January and February.  We were surprised back in November when an unexpected refurbishment quietly appeared for the Magic Kingdom.

The Swiss Family Treehouse closed for refurbishment on Monday, November 18th, and was set to reopen to guests on Friday, December 20th.

Unfortunately, it did not reopen on time. It later partially reopened to guests on December 23, 2024. Scrim remained throughout this attraction making this less than ideal for guests.

One of the crowning jewels of this attraction is The Crow’s Nest located at the very top of the tree house. This offers great views of the Magic Kingdom and especially Cinderella Castle (as featured above).

Previously, guests could walk throughout the treehouse, but a large wooden board blocked off the Crow’s Nest for guests while work was underway.

Now all areas of the Swiss Family Treehouse are reopened to guests. This is great news for guests hoping to escape the busy Magic Kingdom crowds for a few minutes.

The extended refurbishment brought fresh paint to many aspects of the Swiss Family Treehouse along with metal plates to help keep the area safe for guests.

To many guests who love the nostalgia of this attraction, it is a welcome surprise that no big changes took place to this opening day attraction.
