Disney Stops Chaos at the Guardians of the Galaxy Ride

If you have ever ridden Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, you might know that the transition between the ride’s preshows and the ride can get chaotic. Here is a change that Disney is currently implementing that could help with that.

Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind is one of the most popular rides at the Walt Disney World Resort. This rollercoaster is truly out of this world.

It was so popular that for the first years of its existence, Disney did not offer a standby queue at all. Guests could only experience the attraction via Virtual Queue or by purchasing a Lightning Lane.

However, now that is all changing. Starting on February 25, 2025, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind will drop the Virtual Queue. Guests can utilize the standby line! And, the attraction has been added to Early Entry, too!

More Changes for Cosmic Rewind

Disney has already begun preparing for large crowds to form a standby queue for the attraction. They started creating an outdoor twisting queue with umbrellas outside of the attraction. You can see it HERE.

But, that’s not all! Disney also implemented further changes. These are in place for the queue that forms after the pre-shows!

Anyone who has ridden Cosmic Rewind recently has probably noticed that Guests can get a little rowdy moving between the two preshow rooms, and it can get even more chaotic moving from the preshow to the final queueing area before boarding the ride. Some Guests shove the doors open before the preshow even ends. Some Guests move with little concern for those around them. It can be unpleasant to say the least.

Recently, we noticed that certain sets of doors were unlocked for guests to move from the preshow to the final area before loading. Not only that but there were switchbacks set up for guests to form more of a queue as they funneled out of the preshow. And Cast Members were present to keep things orderly.

Will This Change Last?

We are not sure whether this change is permanent. We did notice that there was a maintenance crew working on the doors.

The more organized internal queue might not be a lasting change.

It is possible that this change is only temporary while the work is underway. Or, perhaps, if this change brings some measure of order to the transition from the preshow to the final part of the queue, it will stick around.

This is not the first time Dinsey has used Cast Members to control the chaos outside of the doors. And perhaps it won’t be the last.
