Disney is sharing lots of fun news today at The Future of World-Building at Disney panel at SXSW. We now have even more information on the new attractions coming to Disneyland’s Avengers Campus.
Land Expansion
Disney is bringing not one, but TWO new rides to Avengers Campus in Disney California Adventure. The area is about to DOUBLE in size!
The Red Trolley Car attraction was removed for the expansion of the Avengers Campus.
Unfortunately, with the expansion of the Avengers Campus, the Red Trolley Car had to close.
Infinity Defense
For the Infinity Defense attraction, the premise of this attraction is that the technology that allows the Avengers to jump between worlds has gone missing, and King Thanos is using it to wreak havoc everywhere.
On this attraction, Guests will travel to iconic Marvel destinations such as Asgard, Wakanda, and New York City. But, be on the lookout for Thanos!
Riders will be alongside the Black Panther, Ant-Man, Hulk, and many other favorites, to of course help save the universe!
Stark Flight Lab
For the Stark Flight Lab attraction, guests will sit in “gyro-kinetic pods.” These pods will roll along a track and stop in front of a robotic arm that will hoist them into the air!
President and Chief Creative Officer for Walt Disney Imagineering, Bruce Vaughn stated, “Transferring from a track to a robot arm and then back again – nothing like this has ever been done before in a theme park, and we’re so excited about it. Usually, we hide all the tech behind the scenes so you can focus on the story. Here, the tech IS the story, so we’re putting it front and center.”
The attraction is inspired by DUM-E, Tony Stark’s beloved robotic friend.

Robert Downey Jr. even made an appearance during the announcement! However, no opening timelines have been released for either Avengers Campus attraction.
