Disney Announces Big Changes for Galaxy’s Edge at Disney World

This is the news that all Star Wars fans have been waiting for! After years of updates and big events at Disneyland Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge, Walt Disney World will finally receive some exciting updates. You do not want to miss this!

Special Star Wars Characters

One thing that sets Disney Parks apart from other Theme Parks is the number of great character meet and greets. We all love classic characters like Mickey and his pals, but many Disney fans love rare meet-and-greets.

Some are traditional meet-and-greets where guests wait in line for their chance to interact with their favorite Disney characters. Typically, at these meet and greets, guests have an opportunity for a photo (by a Disney PhotoPass photographer or on your camera) and an autograph.

Other interactions are a bit different for roaming characters. The most popular roaming characters remain The Mandalorian and Grogu at Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge. See more on this interaction HERE. Many times, the rarest characters only appear at Disneyland. We saw this recently with the announcement of Luke Skywalker.

BDX Droids

Last year, Disneyland received two great character interactions. For Season of the Force 2024, Sabine Wren and Walt Disney Imagineering’s BDX droids appeared in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland.

Recently, the BDX droids even made appearances along the Disney Cruise Line ships. Walt Disney World fans wondered when these droids may make their way to the East Coast.

Disney just confirmed that the BD-X Droids will come to Walt Disney World, Disneyland Paris, and Tokyo Disney Resort later this year. An arrival date is not yet set. Follow along for more details.

Today, Disney shared that the Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run will soon have a brand new mission. The new mission will feature the Mandalorian and Grogu.

This new mission will debut May 22, 2026, the same day that the “Mandalorian and Grogu releases in theaters. This will be a great new addition to this attraction.
