This weekend Disney gave a little more information about what to expect for the new Indiana Jones ride being installed at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Here is what we know so far.
Disney Announcements

This weekend was full of fun updates for Disney Parks fans! At The Future of World-Building at Disney panel at SXSW, Disney provided updates for four new attractions.
You can see cool details for the new Monsters Inc. roller coaster coming to Hollywood Studios HERE. And, check out some cool Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge updates HERE. You can also see for the new Cars-themed area coming to Magic Kingdom HERE. And finally, be sure to head HERE for an Avengers’ Campus update.
But SXSW wasn’t the only Disney event happening this weekend.
Indiana Jones Ride Updates

D23 Gold Members got a little nugget of information at its first Spotlight Series event in Florida. The event focused on celebrating the 50th Anniversary of Space Mountain, but attendees got a surprise Disney Parks update, too.
During the event, Chris Beatty from Walt Disney Imagineering surprised the audience with an unexpected glimpse into what the new Indiana Jones ride that is coming to Disney’s Animal Kingdom will be like. The ride will be a completely new adventure with an original storyline that will play into the pillars of Animal Kingdom.
That said, he also reiterated what Disney promised: this will be different from the other Indiana Jones rides. In fact, he confirmed that nothing will be replicated from the existing Indiana Jones ride in Disneyland.
Is That a Good Thing?

This could go either way. On the one hand, Indiana Jones Adventure in Disneyland is pretty cool, featuring impressive visuals! If the attraction being added to Walt Disney World has impressive architecture, life-like animatronics, and intense special effects of its own, it could be an amazing addition to the park.
On the other hand, we have seen Disney increase its use of screens and projection effects lately. While projections can certainly add to an experience, many fans prefer they serve as an enhancement rather than the main event. For Example, some fans think Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is overly reliant on projections and could have done with more exciting transitions.

We are interested to see how the new Indiana Jones ride turns out.
Hopefully, Disney will do it right and make Indiana Jones a great one that isn’t primarily screens and projections, especially since it is wiping out the Dinosaurs.
Are you excited for an Indiana Jones ride to arrive in Walt Disney World? What do you hope it is like? Let us know, and be sure to pass the news on.
